Quartz sand
Quartz, a geological term generally referring to low-temperature quartz (α-quartz), is the most widely distributed mineral in the quartz group. Quartz in a broad sense also includes high temperature quartz (β- quartz), quartz and so on. The main component is SiO2, colorless and transparent, often contains a small amount of impurities, and become translucent or opaque crystal, hard texture. Quartz is a kind of mineral resource with stable physical and chemical properties. The crystal belongs to oxide mineral of tripartite crystal system. Quartz block, also known as silica, is mainly the raw material for the production of quartz sand (also known as silica sand), and also the raw material for quartz refractory and firing ferrosilicon.
A mineral composed of silicon dioxide, chemical formula SiO2. Pure quartz is colorless and transparent, because it contains trace pigment ions or fine dispersed inclusions, or there is a color center and a variety of colors, and the transparency is reduced; Glass luster, the fracture is grease luster. Hardness 7; No cleavage; Conchoidal fracture. The specific gravity is 2.65. It is piezoelectric. The colorless, transparent quartz, which the Greeks called Krystallos, meaning “white ice,” was sure to be durable and strong ice. Ancient Chinese believed that a cold crystal in the mouth could quench thirst.

Description
Quartz sand
Property structure
Quartz sand is a hard, wear-resistant, chemically stable silicate mineral, its main mineral composition is SiO2. Quartz sand is a variety of colors often milky white, colorless, gray. Hardness of 7, brittle, no cleavage, shell fracture. Grease luster, density of 2.65g/cubic centimeter, its chemical, thermal and mechanical properties have obvious anisotropy, insoluble in acid, slightly soluble in KOH solution, melting point 1750℃. It is piezoelectric.
Main type
Quartz sand can be divided into ordinary quartz sand, refined quartz sand, high purity quartz sand, fused quartz sand.
1. Ordinary quartz sand:
SiO2≥90~99%, FeO ≤0.06~0.02%, refractoriness 1750~1800℃, the appearance of some large particles, the surface has yellow skin cyst. Granularity range 5~220 mesh, according to user requirements of granularity production. Main Applications: metallurgy, ink silicon carbide, glass and glass products, enamel, cast steel, water filtration, paohua alkali, chemical industry, sandblasting and other industries.
2. Refined quartz sand:
SiO2≥99~99.5%, Fe2O3≤0.02~0.015%, selected high quality ore for complex processing. Size range of 5~480 mesh, can be produced according to user requirements, the appearance of white or crystalline. Main Uses: high-grade glass, glass products, refractory materials, smelting stone, precision casting, grinding wheel grinding materials, etc.
3. High purity quartz sand:
SiO2≥99.5~99.9%, FeO≤0.005%, is the use of 1~3 grade natural crystal stone and high quality natural stone, carefully selected, fine processing. The particle size ranges from 1~0.5mm, 0.5~0.1mm, 0.1~0.01mm, 0.01~0.005mm.
4. Fused quartz sand
Chemical composition: SiO2:99.9~99.99%; Fe2O3:10PPM~25PPM; Max Li2O content :1~2PPM; Max Al2O3 content :20~30PPM; Max K2O content :20~25PPM; Max Na2O content :10~20PPM. Physical properties: The appearance is colorless transparent block, granule or white powder. True specific gravity :2.21; Mohs hardness :7.0; PH value :6.0
5.Silicon powder
Silica powder: Grey or off-white powder in appearance. Fire resistance > 1600 degrees Celsius. Bulk weight :200~250 kg/m3.
