In line with our company’s 2030 Healthy Environment Goals Guidelines, we will focus on creating positive outcomes for nature by 2030, with at least 30 per cent of our managed mine land and water resources using conservation, restoration or regeneration practices.

Our management of sustainability helps generate social value. We also know our stakeholders and partners are increasingly focused on our sustainability performance and use it as a key determinant in assessing BHP and our industry. We strive to continuously improve and exceed these expectations.

Decarbonisation

At least 30% reduction in operational GHG emissions2; support 40% emissions intensity reduction of CHAMB-chartered shipping of our products1, and support development of technologies and pathways capable of 30% emissions intensity reduction in integrated steelmaking.

Healthy environment

Create nature positive4 outcomes by having at least 30% of the land and water we steward5 under conservation, restoration or regenerative practices. In doing so we focus on areas of highest ecosystem value both within and outside our own operational footprint, in partnership with Indigenous peoples and local communities.
